Thanks to a generous $100,000 donation from Pella Corporation in Pella, Iowa, a beautiful park was built on the Fairgrounds in 1996. Pella Plaza was designed by Bob Lenc Landscaping of Des Moines with the help of Adamson Clark Landscape Architecture. The 50,000 square foot park features benches, flowers, trees, a water fountain and flags representing each of Iowa’s 99 counties.

During the hottest days of the Iowa State Fair, visitors cool off in the fountains and rest in the shade of the trees.	The flags of Iowa’s counties now stand with the American flag on the grounds.
