The Des Moines Register Service Center was the first building added to the Fairgrounds in many years. The site was previously home to the Drake University Information Booth and the former New Orleans Café.

The fully air-conditioned and heated structure was completed for the 1995 Iowa State Fair. This 4,100 square foot building houses First Aid facilities, ATM machines, telephones and an information booth. The Service Center also has over 1,000 square feet of meeting space which is used year round.
