Do you LOVE the Fair as much as we do? Have you ever wondered what it looks like behind-the-scenes of such an amazing event? If so, sign up to volunteer at the 2024 Iowa State Fair! Each year, more than 600 Blue Ribbon Foundation volunteers donate their time and energy by helping out at the Foundation’s many stands. It truly would not be possible without their kindness.
Volunteer responsibilities can include selling bottled water and merchandise, working the BINGO tent, and providing wonderful hospitality to our beloved Fairgoers. Shifts are 4 or 5 hours. For each day you volunteer, you will receive one complimentary admission ticket (per person), parking pass (per person or couple/pair working together), and an Official Blue Ribbon Foundation Volunteer t-shirt. What’s better than a free t-shirt AND tickets to the best event of the year? Volunteers also get to serve as a friendly face for Fairgoers and answer general questions about the Foundations’ fundraising programs.
By volunteering at the Fair, you are doing much more than lending a helpful hand. These individuals are essential parts of the Blue Ribbon Foundation’s mission. By utilizing volunteers, merchandise and water sales are more profitable, which allows more profits to be put towards the Fairground’s renovation projects rather than expenses.
There are still spots open to sign up. Grab a friend and sign up together or make it a family activity! Volunteers as young as 12 years of age can sign up with a parent or other adult. This is a fun opportunity that allows you to become more involved with the Fair, meet people in your community, and spend a day in the sun interacting with fellow Fair lovers.
If you’re a returning volunteer, all you need to do is click the link below and enter your first name and email address (be sure to use the same information you used in 2023) and you will go directly to the shift sign-up page. If you are a new this year, you will be prompted to register as a new volunteer.
Volunteers must be 16 years of age to volunteer individually or 12 years of age to volunteer with a parent or other adult. We ask that volunteers working merchandise sign up for a minimum of two shifts.
