Iowa State Fair - America250

Hello Fairgoers!

2026 marks the United States 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! To celebrate this historic milestone, The Iowa State Fair is hosting several exclusive, one-time events and exhibits you won’t want to miss.

Here is a sneak peak at what we have in store:

“Spirit of ’76 – Iowa Celebrates America250!” exhibit, is located under the east end of the Grandstand, this immersive learning experience will transport you back to life in 1776, connecting Iowa’s people and places to the Revolutionary War.

250 Years of the American Flag display - Located between Pioneer Hall and Grandfather’s Barn, this display celebrates 250 years of American Independence by representing each year in American history with the correlating official U.S. Flag design flown that year.

Iowa Veterans Memorial Walkway on Expo Hill - Utilizing the existing sidewalk starting across from the First Church, the walkway will incorporate historical markers representing every war or conflict that Iowans have participated in (starting with a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) historical marker representing the Revolutionary War). Phase II of the project in 2027 will include brick pavers and a monument at the top of the walkway.

The Blue Ribbon Foundation will also be selling patriotic merchandise for the occasion. We will have a red, white, and blue lapel pin and Sticks plaque. You can purchase these items at our merchandise booths during the 2026 Iowa State Fair!

The Blue Ribbon Foundation is proud to support the continuous improvements of the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds. Make sure you stop by the Iowa State Fair from August 13 -23 to witness these once and a lifetime sights. Join us in celebrating our nation’s history while supporting the ongoing mission to preserve the traditions of the Fairgrounds for generations to come!
