Volunteer at the Iowa State Fair

Our many behind-the-scenes volunteers and their helpful smiles are what keep the Foundation running smoothly at the Iowa State Fair. Each year, more than 500 Blue Ribbon Foundation volunteers donate their time and energy by helping sell merchandise at the Foundation trailers and other locations, or by selling bottled water and Fair Squares at the Foundation's many stands. By utilizing volunteer workers, merchandise, water and Fair Square sales become more profitable, which allows the Foundation to put more profits toward Fairgrounds renovation projects rather than expenses.

All volunteers work in 4-hour shifts with a staff member present. Responsibilities include selling merchandise and answering general questions about the Foundation's many fundraising programs. Volunteers receive a complimentary admission ticket and parking pass for each day they work, as well as a Blue Ribbon Foundation volunteer T-shirt.

More information about volunteer opportunities for the 2017 Iowa State Fair will be available in May.
